The collection at the Kunsthalle zu Kiel comprises works from six centuries, with the principal emphasis being on the art of the 19th and 20th centuries. This exhibition hall brings art and artists of world renown to the state capital again and again – and gets everyone talking with its spectacular campaigns and remarkable happenings. Now the corporate design, too, is communicating this aspiration to the outside world.
The logo, an exclamation mark, is a symbol of the gallery’s philosophy, which is both inviting and surprising. The typography and play of colour is clear and direct – a headline rather than a book – and symbolises not only the high historical quality of the art on show, but also the gallery’s popular communication approach.
Another part of the communication assignment was to have the art ‘speak’ to the people. So alongside its visual impression we have, for the first time, also developed a slogan for the gallery: ‘Art comes from Kiel’.
